So this is a recipe for the elixir I make in the am to get my brain pumping and ready to go! Bitter like coffee but no acid and crash later! Feed Your Head!
Base:
- 1 tsp Horsetail (Amazing herb for bone strength due to its high silica content)
- 1 tsp Dandelion root (Great for liver function and production of bile for the Gall Bladder)
- 1 tsp Nettle (Good for allergies and also another bone builder!)
- 2 tsp Yerba Mate (This does contain caffeine, not a necessary add in)
- 1 tsp Slippery Elm Bark (Coats the stomach, amazing herb for people with leaky gut)
- 1 small piece of ginseng root (Make sure it is Chinese ginseng, American ginseng is actually a sedative.)
- Gingko Biloba (Helps with memory)
Simmer these in water for about 10 minutes. While your waiting get out the Vitamix and add:
Main Ingredients:
- 1 tbs Cacao Powder (The benefits of this are endless, read about them here.)
- up to 1 tbs Maca (Great for a boost! Benefits here.)
- 1/4 tsp Bacopa Monnieri (Also known as Brahmi. This is my ultimate Brain Power herb. This herb will actually help build neurons that aid in memory retention and recollection. I will be writing about it soon so look for the post!)
- 1/4 tsp Holy Basil Powder (Also known as Tulsi. You can use just the leaf too, but in that case brew it in the tea. Amazing for anti anxiety, and amazing brain function. I take shots of this with the Bacopa before I have anything challenging to accomplish that requires high brain function!)
- 1/2 tsp Ashwaganda (Also known as Indian ginseng, helps with memory and focus and reduction of stress levels)
- 1/4-1/2 tsp Shilajit Powder (Contains over 84 different trace minerals including fulvic acid, something your body needs for mineral absorption!!)
- Optional: 1/4 tsp Mucuna (Contains high amounts of L-Dopa, so it will give you a dopamine boost!)
- Honey to taste. This will give you some good glucose, something your brain runs off of!!
Blend on High for about 10 seconds. Pour and be ready to fly through your day!
Tip: Add a dash of cayenne pepper to keep the “hot” sensation in your mouth even after the beverage has cooled!
It is important that when we want to get some good brain function, we take in foods and herbs that actually help build its function rather than speeding us up and then dropping us!
