Maca is root that grows in severely high altitudes in the Andes Mountains, and is part of the cruciferous family. Maca goes through intense temperature changes through out the day, very similar to the Goji Berry, which is why they are Super Adaptogens!! Maca is a powerful strength and stamina builder and is also known to enhance the libido quite a bit!

So what is an adaptogen? An adaptogen is a non toxic substance that increases your ability to resist stressors physically, mentally, and biologically. When you start adding in adaptogens to your diet, you will notice a difference with in a few weeks. I sure did. I eat a TON of adaptogens, and i noticed that it takes a lot to stress me out, when before i would get stressed out fairly easily. I also noticed an increase in my pain tolerance.

So what does Maca do?

  • Increases Energy
  • Increases endurance
  • Increases oxygen in the blood
  • increases physical strength
  • Increases libido
  • Increases neurotransmitter production
  • Supports endocrine system
  • Supports Adrenals
  • Supports Thyroid
  • Improves mood
  • Balances and improves hormones
  • Improves Anemia
  • Helps chronic fatigue
  • Helps Depression
  • Increases nutrition
  • Helps menopausal and menstrual discomfort
  • Improves memory
  • Has been used to help treat Stomach Cancer and TB
  • Relieves stress
  • Supports Cellular function in the body

Maca is rich in:

  • Calcium
  • Magnesium
  • Phosphorus
  • Iron
  • Sodium
  • Sulfur
  • iodine
  • Zinc
  • Potassium
  • Iron
  • Selenium
  • Manganese
  • Tin
  • Silicon
  • Vitamins B1, B2, C and E
  • Macro/Micro Nutrients
  • 31 Trace Minerals!
  • Maca has a higher lipid content than other root vegetables, and is also fairly high in sterols, which enhance the immune system.

Maca is super powerful, and should be slowly introduced into the body. I would say start with a teaspoon and work your way up. I would never recommend going over a heaping tablespoon. When maca goes into the body it can work wonders, just by balancing hormones! Being such a powerful adaptogen you will notices so many great things start to happen when you take. I immediately noticed good mood increase and stress decrease! Peruvians even feed maca to their animals! I have clients who like to take maca right before a work out because of the increased energy, stamina, and strength they feel! Try it out for yourself and see how you like it!
